BahaMar is my daughter’s favorite resort and it’s for good reason. The best part is that the adults love it as much as the kids. There’s beautiful accommodations, a huge waterpark, some of the best restaurants, a casino that rivals Vegas, tons of shops, a beach and so much fun to be had!

There’s 3 hotels and they’re all amazing. You honestly can’t go wrong. @slsbahamar @grandhyattbahamar @rosewoodbahamar

There’s a lot of restaurants here, but my favorites are Katsuya (Japanese), Cleo (Mediterranean), Fi’lia (Italian) and Pizza Lab (Pizza). We also go to Sugar Factory for dessert.

The waterpark, BahaBay @bahabaybahamar, is huge and so much fun! There’s a giant splash pad that great for big kids and little kids. Lots of slides for kids that are 48 inches and above. The Flow Rider is always a favorite. You have to be 42 inches for that. There’s also a wave pool, lazy river, baby slides and so much more. We always get a cabana in this area because we end up spending most of the day here.

There’s lots of gorgeous pools around the resort but our personal favorite is Dean’s Blue Hole. There’s a waterfall, fish tanks inside the grotto and the kids can cliff jump here.

Other fun activities include the flamingos (they do a parade at 9:30AM daily) or you can see them in their area during the day. There’s a kids club, arcade, a fountain show and other animal experiences throughout the property. For the parents there’s lots of bars, a huge casino that feels like you’re in Vegas and lots of shopping around the resort.

If you want to visit BahaMar you have to fly into Nassau, which has flights just about every hour from South Florida. There’s plenty of reasonable options available when it comes to flights. Then get a taxi or car to the resort that’s only 10-15 minutes away.

Bahamas Stop 5 of 5: BahaMar (Nassau) We ended our 18 day Bahamas adventure back at our favorite waterpark… @bahamarresorts. This is the only time we get off the boat and switch to a hotel as this resort doesn’t have a marina for our boat. The kids love it here. It was the perfect way to end the trip. 🩵

Harbour Island is one of the most well rounded Bahamian islands. It has some of the most beautiful beaches, incredible restaurants and it’s quite accessible. It’s easy to get to while not being a super busy huge resort. Here’s everything you need to know before planning a trip to Harbour Island.

Where to Stay: There’s tons of options here! There’s lots of hotels, homes, or you can stay in a marina on your boat. We usually stay at @valentinesresort because they have our favorite marina and beautiful villas for our friends not staying on boats.

How to Get Here: There’s flight daily into North Eleuthera. This is technically across from Harbour Island. You’ll land at ELH (the airport code) and then take a quick taxi to the water, where there’s water taxis lined up to take you across to Harbour Island. It sounds complicated but it’s fairly simple and quick.

How to Get Around: You will need a golf cart for this island because things are spread out and you’ll want to explore.

Where to Eat: The options here are incredible! There’s more good restaurants than you’ll have time for. Some of my favorites are @rockhousebahamas and @thedunmore for fine dining. @acquapazzabahamas is a casual outdoor Italian spot that we enjoy. @thelandinghotel has a great dinner but it’s my favorite for breakfast. Their honey ricotta hotcakes are beyond delicious. Valentines bar the Rooster Tail is our favorite for a quick lunch and they have a restaurant that’ll cook what you catch. Our tuna dinner there was so good! We also love to head to @queenconch_harbourisland for lunch. There used to be a restaurant that made the best Lobster Quesadillas and now there’s a location called @backroadgal242 that has them for pickup. You have to try them while in Harbour! The list goes on and on. If there’s one thing I can guarantee you, it’s that you’ll eat good in Harbour.

Things To Do: The pink sands beach is where you’ll spend most of your time. There’s also a place where you can go swimming with turtles about 10 minutes away by boat. There’s lots of cute little shops, several bars and even a nightclub on the island.

Harbour Island is one of those islands that has it all. An airport nearby. Lots of incredible restaurants. Gorgeous beaches, most famous the pink sands. Nightlife. If you want an island that is very islandy but has it all, this is it. We docked @valentinesresort but they also have incredible rooms available for rent there. We’ve been visiting Harbour Island for the last 15 years or so and it truly has a piece of our heart.

If you want to stay on the island of Highbourne Cay there’s some things you need to know…

✨ It is only accessible by water. There is no airport here. Like many of the islands in the Exumas you need to arrive by boat.
✨Most people stay on their boats in the marina. However there are a handful of villas available for rent and they’re beautiful.
✨It feels like you’re on a private island because it’s almost that. Highbourne is tiny and there’s no one living here full time. Even the employees come and go from the island. There’s minimal amenities, but they do have incredible beaches and 1 restaurant that is really good.
✨You can rent a golf cart to get around but the island is small enough that you can do it on foot.
✨This tiny island has some beautiful features beyond the beaches. My favorites are the 2 swings and the open air fitness center at the top of the hill.

The Exumas alone consists of 365 island or cays and they’re all spread out. If you want to see these things we saw, you will have to go by boat, as most of them are on tiny island that aren’t even inhabited. Here are my favorite parts to visit.

Compass Cay: Here you can swim with nurse sharks in a marina that is guaranteed to have them. You pay an entrance fee and you can hang out on their dock to pet the sharks and you can even get in to swim with them.

Big Major Cay: This is where you’ll find the famous swimming pigs. This is an uninhabited island where the famous pigs live on the beach. When you approach on your boat they will swim out to you to be fed.

Norman’s Cay: The sunken airplane is located just off the coast of Norman’s Cay. It’s in shallow water making it a popular destination for snorkeling. Even kids can do it. In low tide you can walk it and parts of the plane are even out of the water.

Highbourne Cay: This is my favorite island to stay on when in the Exumas. It has beautiful beaches, 2 different swings, an open air fitness center and an incredible marina with a playground for the kids. There’s only a handful of houses available for rent, most people stay on their boats in the marina.

Shroud Cay: A beautiful tiny island that we love to spend the day at. There’s nothing here besides gorgeous beaches and wildlife but the water is insanely gorgeous.

Staniel Cay: One of the more famous cays that has accommodations and is near some of the more popular attractions. Right off the coast you’ll find Thunderball Grotto (the one my husband jumped in). It’s a limestone filled with sea life that is great for snorkeling and diving. It got its name after being featured in the James Bond film Thunderball.

The Bahamas are huge. You need to have a plan before you visit. To give you an idea, the Bahamas consisted of over 700 islands and 2,400 cays. The Exumas are commonly known as the most beautiful of them, but the Exumas alone has 365 of those islands or cays. Which one of these places would you visit first?

Although we stayed in Highbourne Cay, we used some of those days to explore the Exumas. There’s so much to see and do. We barely scratched the surface. We did a boat day to Norman’s Cay for lunch at MacDuffs followed by snorkeling the sunken plane. Another day we took the boat to Shroud Cay. It’s an uninhabited tiny island with the most gorgeous beach ever. The water is so insanely gorgeous it doesn’t seem real. Here there’s a place to explore on a dinghy but we didn’t bring it this time. Most famous in the Exumas are the swimming pigs, the island where you can swim with sharks and the iguanas but we didn’t make it to any of those this trip. We’ve done them several times in the past and they’re lots of fun!

This is the most charming little island that is always a dream. It’s located in Exuma which is the most iconic part of the Bahamas. There is so much to see and do in Exuma but everything is spread out across 365 islands and this is the perfect home base. All of these photos are from our days on Highbourne. It’s a tiny island with 1 restaurant, only a handful of houses for rent, an amazing open air gym with 360 degree views of the ocean and so many witty little surprises along the way.

In the next carousel I’ll share all the beautiful places we visited while staying in Highbourne, since it’s perfect spot for day trips to the other parts of Exuma. But for now here is @highbournecay. I struggled to narrow it down to only 10 photos.

If you want to visit “fisherman’s paradise”,

If you want to visit “fisherman’s paradise”, also known as Chub Cay, here is everything you need to know, so save this post. Chub Cay is part of the Berry Islands and while famous for their fishing, the island itself is incredible. They have a great marina, beautiful accommodations, my favorite pool in the Bahamas and their restaurant is delicious. There is an airport at Chub Cay, so you can fly in or arrive by boat making it much more accessible than most of the Bahamian islands. This was our second stay on our trip and we spent 3 nights here, but I wish we had stayed longer. We fell in love with this island!

Where to Stay: If you’re on your boat you can stay on it in the marina, otherwise they have a small hotel and gorgeous villas available for rent. Prices here are much more reasonable than the other islands we visited.

How to get there: You can arrive by boat or on a flight. There’s flights available daily from Fort Lauderdale, FL on Makers Air.

Where to eat: We ate at the Clubhouse all 3 nights. The restaurant is gorgeous and the food is delicious. Everything we tried we loved. And the prices were more reasonable than most of the other islands. There is also another bar called the Nauti Rooster but we never made it there. It’s supposed to be good as well. The day we were supposed to eat there it was raining so we decided to stay at the Clubhouse instead because it was right next to the marina. For lunch everyday we ordered food at the pool and they brought it out to us.

Amenities: It’s a tiny island but it’s not short on amenities. My favorite part is their beautiful pool with a swim up bar. The beach is right behind it. They also have a fitness center, spa, basketball court, tennis/pickleball court and even a volleyball court.

How to get around: You can rent a golf cart but you don’t need it. We didn’t get one because everything we did was walking distance. The longest walk was to the fitness center.

This was our first time @chubcayresortandmarina and instantly fell in love. It’s such a beautiful island that has so much more than the incredible fishing they’re famous for. It was so hard to pick 10 favorite photos for this carousel because there’s a lot more than that. Should I do a 2nd carousel of photos from this island?

Chub Cay is magical! We will definitely be back!
