I never thought I’d homeschool my child, but the year is 2020 and here we are homeschooling for Pre-K3. When I decided that we would be homeschooling this year, the first thing I started working on was transforming an extra room at my parents house into a real classroom so she would feel like she was in school. Last year I toured several preschools and loved all the colors and learning games, so I decided to stick with that concept and turn our room into a fun space that inspires learning.
Here is our 2 Cool for Skool classroom…
I decided to keep all of her learning games on open shelving so she could pick what she wanted to work on next. I used an old flower stand that wasn’t being used and turned it into a display area for all of her learning games. They were all removed from their boxes and stores in clear containers to keep them organized and visible. These learning games have been great instruments for learning while having fun. I reviewed all of my favorites and shared details about each one here. I’ve only been using learning games to keep it lighthearted and fun, which has been super successful for us. She is only 3 and just beginning Pre-K3 and she is already reading (limited to very simple books, but she can do it). We have been practicing sight words with flashcards and the fly swatter game and she’s really learned so much like that.
For the additional items such as books, flashcards and her science set, I purchased 2 small cubby shelving units for under the window that I found for only $35 each and added in some bins to keep it all organized. All the items I purchased are linked at the bottom of this post.
Here’s her first day of school picture… definitely not what I expected it to be, but we’re going with the flow like everyone else.
When my daughter Charlie turned 2 last year we were about to leave on a 2+ month long road trip in our school bus conversion we named 2 Cool 4 Skool Bus. If you haven’t seen our bus yet, there’s a full tour of it posted here. Since she was turning 2 and that was the name of our bus, we decided to throw her a big 2 Cool for Skool theme birthday party. Most of the custom decorations for her classroom were leftovers from that party. I still haven’t posted that party, but I promise I’ll get around to it soon. Here’s a sneak peek of it. You’ll recognize some of the decor.
If there’s anything you want from our classroom, here are the items I purchased. Just click on the item and it’ll take you directly to where you can purchase it.
I have seen so many homeschool rooms that are just beautiful, so here is some added inspiration for you….
If this inspired you to put together a homeschool classroom, please share it with me. I’d love to see it! Wishing you a wonderful school year full of learning and fun.
